<description>This video shows a technical explanation of the Plight bruteforce mechanic in the Refuge, including which variables are used and exactly how long it takes. Chapters: 0:00 - Disclaimers and title 0:15 - Intro 2:35 - Technical explanation 3:53 - In-game variable display 4:19 - How long will it take? 5:22 - Finally 5:49 - Footnotes Footnote #1 (3:06): While the game is intended to run at 60 frames per second, in practice it isn't always exactly 60 FPS. The game's framerate is dependent on many factors, such as the refresh rate of your monitor, the lag of your system, and slight variances in the game state. The game has an option called "frameskip" which tries to maintain a stable 60 jiffies per second while skipping frames, making in-game jiffies and frames separate time units. All time units in this video are expressed in jiffies. The speedrunning community uses the in-game timer, a feature enabled by creating a file named igt.ini in the game's folder. More information can be found here: https://oneshot.wiki.gg/wiki/In-game_timer Footnote #2: My screen capture software does not record SDL2 games at a steady framerate. It tends to drift and fluctuate in and out of sync by a few frames. My visualization does not take into account the sync issues of the video capture, and may be slightly offset from what is visible.
